e-apostille project in Spain

The new e-Apostille system is already a reality in Spain since 4th April, when it started to operate in the Chancellor Secretariats (Secretarías de Gobierno) of the Superior Courts of Justice of the Region of Murcia and Castilla-La Mancha, chosen as pilot sites. The new e-Apostille system is based on two pillars: first, issuing Apostilles electronically, the e-Apostille; and second, the e-Register or electronic Register of Apostilles, which will record all Apostilles issued (both electronic and paper Apostilles), will allow all Apostilles (both electronic and paper) to be followed up and for their validity to be checked. The new system will not only make it easier to obtain Apostilles, but will guarantee that the Apostille is authentic and that the document has not been altered and will not be rejected, thanks to an easy verification of data through the e-Register.
