Not entirely true, they are suited to Dps and tank and can go both at the same time, you can adapt commando's technique and tactics too, if you get it right commando is a wrecking ball in PvP.
For example: A good mando could probably tank 6+ in PvP safely. Yet do good area dmg (with good cds on them) and stack all people up with DoTs at the same time.
