@smiling0aussie It really depends on the dog, but in general I first want to make sure that my dog has a VERY solid "roll-over" cue. I want to be able to give a very small hand cue without a lure and have my dog consistently going right into the roll-over before I move onto the next step. Then I work on having the dog grab the blanket. When they are consistently grabbing it I will ask them to grab it while in the "down" position, and see if I can select longer "holds" or multiple grabs.

@smiling0aussie Here is where it starts to get tricky. I will ask the dog to grab and then give the hand cue for "roll-over". Some dogs will figure it out and after a few times they will grab and roll and I will only click for that behavior. However, some dogs have difficulty so I spend time asking them to just shift their hips from the down, then grab, then drop their shoulder and grab, and so on and so forth until I have shaped the entire behavior. Good luck and have fun!

Hi! I tried to teach this to Gypsie my doxie yesterday, just a few minutes and she is on the good way to achieve it. I've posted a video on my channel too.
