@2short2q ....the racial stereotypes are false. The history of American music is the history of American multi-culturalism. The Drops aren't defying social norms...they're simply re-claiming African-American roots. "Black" people are people of European, African and Native American ancestry....like the country itself. If you want unity you need to accept diversity and the the right of all sorts of Americans to define themselves.

@MrTophman89 I agree with the notion of what you say but the guitar isn't really anglo anything in origin. That's southern European, but one could maybe better say european in general for the origin of many of these modern musical instruments.

without african americans there would be no banjo. without eastern european americans there would be no mandolin. without anglo european americans their would be no guitar. without the love of heritage and the big old sky there would be no folk music.

@MFAsh1969 I just found them out today...love this band already...

It sucks that I have only just discovered CCD but awessome that I have.

Justin Robinson just left the group :-( Good luck to him in his move...can't wait for the new incarnation of Carolina Chocolate Drops.

I sure wish my great-grandpa was still here to see this. I've thought that so often. He passed when I was a 10 year old, but I remember him so well. He had his fiddle under his chin and would just play to me. I would love for him to see this group. They are almost 50 years too late for him, but they are NOT late for those here today. I thank them for passing on the music. Thank you for posting.

Hear, hear! I agree. No more hyphenations, just a hyper nation in love with all its collective cultures!

Stumbled across these guys a few days ago just surfing thru YouTube looking for random bluegrass. I am glad I did. I love this style....definitely comes from the soul.

@bc78260 Check out 13th Floor Elevators. They used a jug too. :o)
Now ... THIS ... is American. Not a nation of hyphenated Americans, but a fantastic demonstration of all coming together as one. Not divisive diversity.. But UNITY. United in our common history through music.
Her comments brought a tear to my eye.
Fantastic work. Outstanding. Just when I have given up on my country I can always find one more reason to fight for it.
