In 2005, Manchester Museum of Science and Technology reinacted the Rainhill Trials on a section of the original line.

  • Ermm Planet wasnt at Rainhill. It wasnt built til 1830!

  • @DiegoLiger True - there are a lot of things in the video which weren’t there in 1829 - me for one! If you have a working replica of an 1830 loco it would be churlish to omit it just for the sake of historical accuracy :D

  • @DiegoLiger planet was built by freinds of the museum in 1992 and has been running rides ever since although she wasnt at rainhil i prusume they still included their loco as she was the loco built after rocket and mainly becasue where else have you seen all these sexy locos togeather before ?

  • Brill film,I missed the re-enacment,but after visitng the celebrations on 15 Sept 2005,I joined as a volunteer,and I am still there,so I recognise some of the train crews,as I have fired Planet for them.

  • rocket and planet are going to nymr for 175th ofb the line opening this year.

  • rocket is back in manchester on the 15th, 18th,19 sept for the L&M 180th
