jwccc47 is correct Sherrie, it is a December the 2nd, 1902 recording, which would make Caruso 29. It was recorded in Milan in a hotel room I believe. He was still refining & perfecting his technique at this time. Because of the primitive recording device, which was in it's infancy, it was necessary for Caruso to turn his head away from the recording horn on high notes to avoid saturation, due to the profusion of harmonic overtones in his voice.
