I worked for Grumman (Bethpage) as a Machinist , in the mid 80's. We built the F-14 outer wings tail surfaces and other potions of the plane in our building. I thought that the plane went down due to F.O.D. (foreign object and debris) in the controls.

age631 i live 10-15 mins away from cavlerton as well as matter in fact i jsut visted cavelerton airpor yestrday its like a ghost town we went onto the airport to and found this old taxi way where they were old alert pads during the cold war i dont what planes were on the pads i tried to find out no luck but it was really cool.

It had less problems in the development phase than the F-4, they all have problems in the beginning and they're constantly upgraded.
