IN-Business News: New Zealand's most advanced wind farm named "West Wind" was switched on this morning. For our bus ride to the site which is closed to the public: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5piaMw8pqeM .This video shows the site and the turbines which have been constructed across a massive tract of land to the west of Wellington city, in the area of Makara. The 62 turbines will generate enough energy to power the Wellington region. The site was apparently gauged by visiting experts from Siemens as being of extremely high quality, with twice the normal wind generating power of a high quality wind farm site. The wind farm named "West Wind" uses Seimens AG 2.3 megawatt turbines.

  • christ- nothing of the turbines themselves!!

  • @bigrobnz in the description click the link to "Bus ride to the site" (also to the right of this video) to see the turbines.

  • Well that's your opinion, the Maoritanga added a distinct feeling of something "deeper" to the event and connected to the place we were in, hard to explain, but which often lacks at corporate openings. By the way, Key knew all the songs off by heart.

  • @farquarofwestminster Are you for real? Honestly is this a joke? I hope so.

  • It was a great day and one we were all very proud of.

  • I have been a proponent of the use of wind technology for over thirty years now. However the Meridian Energy corporate structure is evil. I am sad to the Maori blessing and welcoming Fascism to our shores. It is particularly sad because it is Maori communities that have been most damaged by the New Zealand Electricity Industry Reforms.

  • Interesting video.

Apart from the kowtowing to all those savages. I suppose they've got their hands out for some taxpayers money at the end of the ceremony.

I don't know why you New Zealanders just give into those native abbos. They should be kept behind the barriers with the rest of the riff-raff.
