Clear a bit up,He wrote this for his father who passed away around December 1972 the song's meaning refers to his somewhat detached relationship with him at the time Phil's father never really supported his love for drumming and wanting to be a musician, but rather him to follow in the family line of insurance salesman the lyrics ''that i didnt do what i could, playin records upstairs while he watched tv,i didnt spend the time i should that is the memory i will live with all of my life''says alot
Fuck how TRUE THIS ALL he said was in this MAGIC song... Fuck when this man sings its like he sings about my OWN life... Those words just stay in mind FOREVER 'All of my life... I've been searching for the words to say how i feel. I would spend my time thinking to much and leave too little to say what i mean'...
@Romerluv40 he is...he was Don Myrick. He was fatally shot in Los Angeles in 1993 during a narcotic investigation by a police man who mistook a butane lighter in Don's hand for a weapon.
He was one of the original member of the Phenix Horns in the Earth, Wind and Fire until 1982, then, with the whole Phenix Hornes, he joined Phil for his solo albums a live shows 'til 1990.
My My My....I cannot get enough of this Version of that song....I love the saxaphone....it kills me softly...and the guitar...My lord!!!! I can play this song every weekend while having my glass of Manischewitz!!! loving every moment of this song...I just love Phyllis Loves Phil.
@Pitan65 Eric did play with Phil on the album, but without knowing what part you refer to, I guess it would be Daryl Stuermer you see in this video ... he was Phil's regular guitarist from back in the days with Genesis.
