Shaping and fitting the boards. To connect the staves together I used a 2 part marine epoxy. I buttered the edges of the boards and set them in the circle on the paper layout. When They were all set wrapped the drum with plastic wrap than put two strap clamps on it each a quarter of the way up and down the side of the drum. For a softer wood I may of used three clamps. The plastic wrap protects the straps form attaching to the epoxy.
To work out width of staves as follows: Desired width of drum x pi(3.14) this gives circumference. divide this by how many staves. This gives you stave width. For drums 700mm or less in diameter keep them under 85mm to allow for easy rounding. To work out what angle to cut the staves to, take the no. of staves, times by 2, divide answer by 360, thats the angle to set saw table and jointer

@shedasaurus Thank you for this information! I have a shop again now and would like to try this again with more symmetrical results.

I could get that off the drum this week. I did a paper layout and took the angle off of that. This drum wound up with and odd number of panels. Checking and a bad cut. It was originally going to be over 4ft across. Thank God for the smaller size 38" it fits perfectly in the back of my car!
