Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713), one of the most influential musicians and composers of the Baroque era. His published achieved so much popularity that was unmatched until Haydn. Although not the first person to establish or coin the term "concerto grosso," he was hands down the most important in establishing it as a popular music form.

The 8th concerto of his op.6 bears the title "Christmas Concerto, " which has been a popular piece even outside of the Baroque repertoire.

  • @DubbedTheUnforgiven It's the Baroque tuning ;))

But there's no an exact frequency. For example, the Baroque A is an A-flat in Mordern tuning

  • IGood but I am not very convinced by this too much 'staccato'...it seems - to my ear- very distant from a Corelli spirit, and slightly anachronistic

  • what is the tuning frequency did they use? Certainly not A440.

  • I like how the picture has the original bow

  • favorite baroque piece by far

  • i play this is 2nd violin, good song :)
