"How to Bake Bread from scratch at Owen's Place -- a guide for the Common Man"
One thing I enjoy more than baking bread is showing up unexpected with all the ingredients at a friend's house and baking bread there. That's exactly what happened last weekend when Julie and I visited our friend Owen.

i made this and it was my first loaf of bread...it wasn't very pretty, but it sure was delicious...it was really huge because i let it rise for like 3 hours :D

I tried this today and got so upset it caused me stress which I cannot have, I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong the bread would not rise. Maybe I did not use enough brewers yeast.

@ItsMsMargie You need to use bread yeast instead of brewer's yeast.

@daevczen I dont know about that. I made some bread with the yeast from the bottom of a Chimay bottle (red one) .. pretty darn good... I also used an eighth cup honey and eighth cup molasses with a half cup raw sugar... (750 grams flour) with hazelnuts, apricots, walnuts, raisins... what have you... basically, your hangover morning bread... (well toasted) Hope my half recipe works out for you all... (I recently bought a wooden spoon and plan to send it to Owen.. wth no wooden spoon Owen?)

@gogogodancer Ahh. You meant yeast. Well, sure, why not. Sounds dee-lish. Nonetheless, I wouldn't throw too many variables at someone who'd never tried baking before. No need to cause them stress that they cannot have ;-)
