  • Thank you to the gentleman who put together this fantastic You Tube piece. I've emailed the folks below (from mztracy's post below) and requested some detail on the issues that the Animal Control Commission has so that those of us who support Suzanne can possibly come up with a solution that works for both parties.

  • Hello, I'm just learning of this situation and I live in Canada. I will send my Donation ASAP. How much time does Suzanne have? Have you guys thought about entering the rescue to the Pepsi Challenge in order to get people voting and the rescue to win the grand prize in order to do the renovations? I am will share this on twitter and FB. Please keep us all updated. Thank you so much for all you do.

  • I don't understand why they would do this. It's a wonderful place. xx

  • @soon2badon just keep spreading the word and we hopefully will get enough donations for the concrete work and fencing. Main thing, keep sharing and getting people to email in. :)

  • This is a rescue that adopts out 500 to 600 dogs a year. Each of those is spayed or neutered! Halfway to Home has wonderful volunteers. It is a well run organization. The rescue is clean. There has been a significant dent put into the pet overpopulation problem the High Desert has suffered under. Halfway to Home's sheer numbers of spay/neuters has saved taxpayer dollars and shelters from overload. Dogs have been matched to families. It's a shining example of rescue.

  • I'm in shock! Why would they close down a fully functioning rescue that has been doing so much good work for a decade?! I've emailed a note to the 3 addresses. What else can we do?

  • E-mail your message to The Animal Control Commission at, animalcontrolcommission@co.kern.ca.us, Lorelei Oviatt, Director of Planning & Community Development Department at, LoreleiO@co.kern.ca.us, Scott Denney, Planning Operations Division Chief at, ScottD@co.kern.ca.us, Lorine Vasquez, Planner 2 at, VasquezL@co.kern.ca.us OR ALL OF THEM!!!

  • Two of my 'fur-kids' [Dexter and Charlie} are Halfway to Home rescues!! They are the loves of my life and I could not imagine life without them. PLEASE help save this fabulous rescue!! This is a true travesty of justice!
