Mincieli's new studio (Jungle City) has a SSL, an Icon and an Euphonix.

So she does like a "big mouse".

I honestly spend more time on the SSL then i Do on the icon when i work. The Icon only really comes in handy when you're mixing in the box, its just a control surface, but the SSL is a Full analogue console with 2 different pre-amps per channel that sound great, but it is ALSO a controller as well.. this is where is is amazing. Because you can't get those pre amp sounds from a digi mic-pre , just can't compare.

AFKYoYo I think you missed her point, she understands that working DAW or "Big Mouse" as it where, but the point of the duality is it has the same functions as you would expect on an ssl board but rather than being virtual on screen with plug ins and there not as such realistic algorithms as good as they are. I think she means its DAW but more like old school mixing. All ssl boards have not really changed in years she is pointing out the advantages of the Duality. If its good enough Lord alge!

It has nothing to do with being a "Big Mouse" although this does come into play. It mostly has to do with the sound. A lot of famous engineers and producers will not mix in the box because they love the feel and sound of mixing through an actual console and not a giant mouse. And even though your ears may not be trained to the point to hear the difference between a mix running through a REAL SSL console and a mix running through an SSL bundle by Waves...these individuals CAN. ^_^

The Icon is just a Big Mouse

I've worked on both boards and must say that the SSL Wins everytime.

If you buy an old SSL you beter have a good Machine Room and a good engineer who can maintain that console. Old SSL's also cost a lot more energy wise.

The Duality uses allmost a kwarter of the power and you don't need the extra airconditioning.
