Filmed live in Houston, Texas, in front of over 800 guests, 9 year-old Lillian asks the Master what happens when one lies.

For instance, if Lillian's father were to ask her if she had completed her homework, and she'd responded that she had when, in fact, she'd hadn't, several things may happen. The immediate effect of a lie is that it will inevitably result in the lost of trust from the person lied to.

But, further down the road, and perhaps, an even more detrimental consequence is the rift in one's value system. When one consistently lies, or is in an environment where a lot of deception or cheating occurs, the trait of honesty no longer becomes important. One must realize, however, that honesty is absolutely essential to a healthy relationship, and that it should be preserved and considered a priority at all costs. Fear not to tell the truth, but fear much when one is compelled to lie.

Vivian then asks a supplemental question that is, perhaps, slightly more applicable to the older generation.

Is a "white lie" considered a lie? For instance, if one's mother were to ask how she looked in a hideous dress, should the children respond "yes" thereby hurting the mother's feelings? The child certainly has no intention of harming the mother's ego, but rather is just shielding her from the truth, and may feel that he or she is simply acting on the best interest of the mother.

The Master answers that while a white lie doesn't necessarily constitute as an official lie, one should avoid white lies if possible. As we mature, however, we will understand that the alternative to a white lie is simply realizing a better way to convey the same message. Instead of responding to the hideous dress, one can focus the conversation on the mother's beautiful hair that day. The day will come, then, when the mother will understand how she looks and not have to ask for a second opinion from the child, such that the child does not feel compelled to tell the lie. Thus, both parties come out winners based on that mature approach at conversation. Nevertheless, one should strive for honesty by all means.
