So I found a new favorite adventure book. Check out this classic from 1883, Treasure Island, a pirate tale you can't go through life without. Trust in me and my multiple viewings of Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • TheNeedleDrop also brought me here, i liked the review i'll check out some of your other videos

  • @IamYourEvilOne much obliged.

  • TheNeedleDrop brought me here. I read this in sixth grade. I loved it. I might have read a version worded for kids, though. I love your review, man! You need more views. You are funny and informative. You seem to humbly and interestingly offer a service that most others do not. I hope that makes the difference in your success. Review Witness, by Whitaker Chambers or Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.

  • @ryanellis000 haha looked them both up, those are HUGE books! I'll probably have to save those for in-between when I finish my weekly read. Got anything else the general population would consider "classic" that's less than 300 pgs?

  • Lucky I've read this before punk! I'd be so mad right now. I was also impressed when I read this story. What a freakin adventure, right?

I wasn't sure how to feel about it though, because I didn't know how much of it was invented in this book and how much was just fact, or whatever. Like obviously Long John Silver and Black Beard, but what about the x marks the spot, or the language, or peg legs, was it all invented in his mind? Wasn't some of this real stuff? Pirates DID exist, how much is RLS?

  • @emmaleighbug by what I looked into it, it was almost all in his head. I'm sure he derived some from stories he had heard though, and all stories eventually lead back to "the truth."

  • He wrote a chapter per day! This book is on top of my bookcase right next to Gulliver's Travels (both old editions). Those are the only two books 'on top' of the bookcase.

  • Love Dean's "Saturday Sit Down" ! He's smart. He's funny. Encourages me to re-read the classics.

  • That book is so boring. period.

  • Ha, the beginning made me laugh. Indeed most people seem to be unaware that novels existed before 1990, and that vampires and werewolves were not always a constant fixture in them. Lord of the Rings might as well be ancient literature
