In part one, Jon Stewart gave loose support to Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney as potential Republican presidential candidates (the key word there is "loose") when Bill O'Reilly asked the Daily Show host if there were any GOP-ers he "liked." He did, however, seem to have a hearing problem when it came to discussing his feelings toward Sarah Palin.

Stewart showed his patriotic side when Bill asked if he "loathed" any of the GOP 2012 contenders. Stewart answered, "I feel like this country is stronger than any individual you could throw at it, so I don't hate any of these people. I don't think personally that the damage they could do is so drastic or so great that we could ever be run off course by one individual."

In part two, O'Reilly and Stewart talk discuss the current president. Stewart says bluntly, "no" when asked if Obama has lived up to his expectations. The comedian walked the statement back a bit by saying that he's not sure, however, if his expectations were "fair to that individual."

Bill doesn't understand the pause before answering his questions. It called "thinking".

I would dispute that ... I think Stewart does an admirable job of concealing his contempt for OReilly, whereas O'Reilly does an admirable job of concealing his respect for Stewart; Stewart is totally the master of their debates from where I'm sitting.

I don't know. I think Stewart shows genuine affection for O'Reilly as a person. I think he has contempt for some of O'Reilly's statements and views, definitely. Frienemies is a good term for them:)

    Fear is not respect.

    It's called fear AKA respect.

I'd assume it's because they might actually be friends, just friends that are so far apart on the political spectrum that all they could do is argue...then go out for a beer together.

Like that "Rumble in the Air Conditioned Auditorium." I couldn't see O'Reilly doing that with just anyone.

o'reilly fears and admires jon stewart at the same time. he realizes that jon could tear him to shreds comedically without much effort at any moment, so he stays cool. if he just went all belligerent like he does with many guests, stewart would make a mockery of him, so it'd be a failing strategy

Most of Bill's debates tend to involve Bill shouting and drowning the other guy out. I've not worked out how but Jon seems to have a secret method of keeping Bill tame.

I assume they're professional friends, since they're both entertainers first.
