You can't see the forest for the bare trees.

While it may be true that rechargeable batteries require more energy to produce and create more waste, this is a 'per battery' statistic. You have to take into account that a rechargeable battery replaces not just one, but several -hundred- regular batteries.

I.e. in terms of environmental damage and energy usage, you don't compare 1 rechargeable to 1 regular battery, but 1 rechargeable to (at least) 100 regular batteries; which is less?

  • @MrDar3k your not looking past this marketing ploy are you?

    the facts are

    1. rechargeable battery's require more energy to produce and create more waste

2.they're going to keep manufacturing these so regardless of weather the device uses external batteries or not, batteries are going to continue to be made

3.there will always be devices that require an outside external batteries, even if they could eliminate this they wouldn't as industries would go out of business

    think ahead!

  • @TechXMarine well instead of buying new batteries every so and throw out the old ones, its better to have "rechargeable" also this way you do not spend electricity to charge them so at any angle I try to see it its better for the world

  • @MrDar3k

if this is to stop main battery's to "save" the environment what do you think is inside the device to hold its charge

    that's right my friend Battery's

if they do release this its not gonna be something where they release it to the public and no one ever buys battery's again

they're gonna keep manufacturing these and creating new ones so its gonna do Jack shit for the environment

    1.never gonna work

2.gonna do more damage than good as the rechargeable battery's contain worse chemicals

  • Stupid ideas this are

  • yes! the next sustainable energy source will be African children!

  • everyone is stupid... these are not created for people that cannot afford batteries (I have a computer and I find it hard buying batteries every so ) but this is created so that we stop spending electricity to protect the world

  • oh jesus.

for the smartest people and developers in the world, they don't half miss the glaringly obvious facts.

  • Stop crying... Sony does the right thing... every small company free energy project is closed by the Big Company Guys (petrol,..) Sony now have a chance to make free energy project... and I'm glad that they go in this direction... Sony is a big company so stopping them from delivering free energy will be hard...
