Major Winters won the silver star for this battle and it is today taught at West Point and regular basic training.

@berserker276 My bad, I know, I wasn't really thinking straight because I was in Youtube rage mode Haha thanks for correcting the mistake.

@ArchitectDream Correctin on my part, won by the *Allies, and I believe if nobody else contributed and the allies didnt weaken the rest of the Axis on and spread them thin. The Russians, no matter their numbers would have been destroyed. Although like you said the russians played an enormous part in the war, without them everyone e;se would have lost. But, please next time you correct someone you dont have to insult them.

@Howisthisnameinvalid The war was won by the Allies*. Just saying.. it's disrespectful to all the other countries who also fought the Nazi's.

One of my favorite battles in the series. :D

@DaDiema May be so but this was a real attack and the adaptation is pretty faithful.

@FinalWar1444 Just one, the 101st Airborne. They had little food and even less ammo with no support. The SS couldn't break them. They held for weeks and blunted the Germans Advance; then Patton showed up and the rest is history. You mad?
For those who say this is 'propaganda' or unrealistic. This was based on a historic battle where Easy company did in fact capture and destroy 4 guns. It is based on the diaries and reports of people that fought.
Airborne Infantry Divisions are American special forces--best men even in America, like SPETZNAZ. They were fighting German Artillery, which is not as well trained in trench fighting.
There is dramatic embellishment, such as with the Luger, but scenes are based on history.

@DaDiema
This series was based on the book. I have no doubt that it was "Hollywood-ized", but even some get lucky.
Like Speir's run to link up with I company, he was one lucky son of a bitch!
