  • This is amazing! Ella in peak ballad voice followed by what must be one of the most unexpected yet felicitous duets ever recorded! The should have gone on the road together. What a treat - thank you!

  • Wonderful Ella, the life is beatifull with a wonderful voice like that

  • she sung the hell out of "hey Jude" While reading the words. HA HA!

  • Sweet Ella. Wonderful.

  • God. two of the many greats of the past.

  • we all do...The release of "Whisper Not" was only what was originally issued on the LP...there are still mono takes (One of which i have up on Youtube) and other songs..... Verve was doing so well, then a new person got put in charge , so let's hope.

  • I wish, I *WISH* they would release her studio version of "Melancholy Serenade." Ugh.

  • I love Ella. She's as cute as a doll here, too. The flip or hair extender deal on her head is balanced sort of precariously when s he tosses her head back. Made me nervous for a minute. I was afraid it was gonna fall off. That would have been a pity. What a classy, elegant lady.

  • I was 7 years old in 1969. But I managed to never see this wonderful series, so I'm grateful to see these platinum tapes, which hold up quite well after 40 years. Kudos. Ella doing "Hey Jude" is somewhat startling, but when she switches to the timeless 'Melancholy Serenade,' my mouth simply drops. It is another stunning, essentially Ella essay. And the pairing at the end with Durante for the pleading of "Bill Bailey" is nothing short of joyous. Their dual scat-strut at the end makes me smile.
