Montgomery Clift: The Defector - Room 234

Two scenes from Montgomery Clift's last film THE DEFECTOR. Clift plays Professor Bower, a physicist blackmailed into venturing into west Germany to retrieve soviet secrets by the CIA. In these scenes Bower is placed into a Soviet psychological torture hotel room in an effort to break him down, and force him to confess to being a spy.

This is without a doubt my favourite scene in this hard to find film.

I've seen every movie Montgomery Clift ever Made EXCEPT this one. It's seems impossible to find a copy. THANK YOU!! so much for posting some clips from it :-) I so wish I could find a copy of the whole film.

It took me a very long time to find this film - his other hard to find films, Freud and The Search, were comparatively easy... I eventually found it using the IMDB forums. Hope that's of some help to you.

I've seen all but 2 of his movies. This is the second one I havent seen yet. I love Montgomery. He is the best actor ever!

Low-cost psychedelia movies apart, in 1966, Monty Clift mostly resembled to Bower's character. His pills+booze abused habit just led him to act in such craps like this. Monty has been a great actor, absolutely a sensitive sympathetic performer artist. Watching him throughout junk he did out of his mind, gets me sick indeed. Please, check out his proper, acting career. Do not idolatrate him as a weirdo.
