@GothicAnime345 the salt is used to give flavor to the onigiri. Best type of rice would be short grain japanese rice (sushi rice). you can put ANYTHING you want really. whatever you like ur rice with you can add to the onigiri. short grain japanese rice is naturally sticky thats why it doesnt fall apart. Jasmine rice doesnt stick like short grain rice. as for the shape well just practice it. mold ur hands to make the triangle shape. hope this helped.

Question: I know you need water on your hands so rice won't stick to your hand but why you need salt? As well that is best type of rice to use for onigiri? What are best fillings for Onigiri and how would you cook them? As well how do you keep the onigiri from falling apart on you? Finally how you make the triangle shape of an onigiri as you roll it in your hands?
A friend told me jasmine rice is not good at all to use for onigiri. Why?

Americans seem so clueless when it comes to the important step of washing the rice!! everyone always ask a what am I doing when im washing it or b how come my rice is so soft and not sticky lol

it is very delicious! especialy if you fill it with smashed tuna, shrimp, or pork.....or all 3!
