Fury in the Pacific (Ep. 2)

What a difference two weeks make in the Battle of the Pacific, as the Kings find themselves under fire early in the season.

On Oct. 27, the royal regiment took to the road on their way to Dallas to take on the white hot Stars. The hero of the game turned out to be Kings defenseman Slava Voynov. The child prodigy from Chel-lab-insk scored his first NHL goal and first power play goal in one fell swoop in the second period.

He then broke a 3-3 tie when he blasted a shot past the stunned Star netminder for his second goal of the game. The Kings held on to shoot down the Stars, 5-3.

Two days later, our boys flew back to Phoenix to deal once again with the Dogs of the desert.

The Commando from Kenora, Ontario Mike Richards drew first blood with a goal in the second period to give the Kings an early lead.

But those wily Coyotes answered back, scoring two goals just minutes later.

The fight had intensified when the Slovenian Stunner Anze Kopitar scored to tie up the game, eventually sending the contest to overtime.

That's when those conniving canines dealt the finishing blow to decide the battle, handing the Kings their first loss in the Pacific.


But it turns out the Lords of Los Angeles fell victim to a brutal shark attack, alowing three unanswered goals in the second period on the way to a 4-2 loss to San Jose.

But fret not: the war is just weeks old. The Black and White Battalion has plenty of fight left in their bellies, and are sure to continue their forward march toward winning the Pacific.
