@Creamer617 It only takes a nano second to drop that cigarette, or a some unburnt propelant from the last fired round to get blown back by the wind land on one of those augmenting charges and it will be big macks all round, they won't need cremating as there won't be enough of them left to bother with
-
@Creamer617 The Number 3 is passing the rounds to the number 2 who is putting them in the barrel, as he does not appear to remove the safety pin from the round's we can assume that all the rounds in that pile already have the safety pins removed (bad drills). In the British Army all those mortar rounds would still be inside their duplex containers, protecting them against the elements and the danger of a piece of unburnt propelant from the last fired round being blown back and landing on them
-
@simroy okay so thats true but they wouldnt be dumbasses and flick their cigarettes onto a box of shells then
-
@Creamer617 I think not? Normally above the tail fins of the mortar round are "augmenting cartridges" that look like donuts and give the rounds extra range. They are highly flamable and at the end of of a mortar range shoot when we burn the unused ones they burn with an intensity that you could not imagine and are impossible to put out. Therefore if you drop a cigarette on that pile of rounds and it lands on one of them the fire would be so intense it would set off all the rounds in a second?

@BMM51 No it's not? as long as it is used to produce smoke for use as a screen or to degrade enemy vision and optical systems. It is illegal if it is used against personnel. But ourselves (UK) and the US only use it for it's designated purpose to produce smoke screens. This of course is total BS as in the British Army when firing mortars we use what we call a "Fruit Cocktail" WP & HE mix onto the enemy position, good stuff, shrapnel and lumps of burning phosphorous, every body gets a bit?

Now thats what it is supposed to look like!

what is the guy in front of the mortar doing? (the one lowered)

when the weapon is firing, he is stabilizing the bipods so the gun doesn't "jump". When he comes up, he is leveling the gun to make sure the rounds stay on target.
