Dolores Huerta doesn't have a lot of fans at the Texas State Board of Education. The co-founder of United Farm Workers of America was stripped from a list of historical and contemporary figures who have exemplified good citizenship because board members alleged she was a socialist.

Earlier today, the board again clashed over the inclusion of Huerta, with social conservatives trotting out a series of attacks against her: she is a socialist...she doesn't embody American values...her "negative comments" make people uncomfortable. Most bizarrely, David Bradley said she doesn't deserve inclusion because she isn't dead yet!

  • Republicans have made words like "socialist" and "communist" as if they were vile curse words. That term is a format for how groups function. many Socialist systems are still in place in the US. stop Demonizing the person over terms.

  • Dolores Huerta is a hero in my eyes and in many people fuck what Texas thinks!

  • Dolores Huerta Hijacks Graduation - Look at this video, and this is EXACTLY the embarrassment this congressman was referring to. In her old age, she has had multiple "senior moments" where she repeatedly degrades the her heroine-like reputation

  • Dolores Huerta, Civil Rights Activist, member of the Democratic Socialists of America!

  • you people make me sick!!!!!! How could you vote against Dolores Huerta. You should be asham of yourselves. She is my Hero and all of us look up to her. America and Canada love her. You republicans know she works for the poor people!!!

  • The only Republicans I like are pushing up the daisies.

  • If it were up to these people, there would no United States. They would have voted to remain loyal to King George, and the Revolution would have never happened. Ironic, they are deciding issues on "Public Schools" and have issues with socialized programs.

  • This is frightening.

  • @classc63

    Exactly.

  • This is exactly why you can't vote for a Republican. They are an anchor keeping society from improving. They are the Jar Jar Binks politics.
