Russia's Putin backs US adoption ban

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that a draft bill banning US adoptions of Russian children is a legitimate response to a new US law that calls for sanctions on Russians deemed to be human rights violators. But he has not committed to signing it. At his annual marathon news conference on Thursday he said that the measure, which has received preliminary approval in parliament, is also a response to an alleged US failure to protect the rights of adopted Russian children. Many Russians have been angered by cases of adopted children who have died or suffered abuse at the hands of their adopted parents. They also complain that US courts have been lax about punishing abusers. Robin Forestier Walker reports from Moscow.

This is a large issue although many families like yours would be good parents. More importantly the ban was a response to an American bill which discriminated against Russian officials, the magzbitsky act, yes I know I mispelt it XD,

This is bs , I'm American my brother in law adopted a baby boy from Russia 7 years ago and adopted a girl 10 years ago the kids is healthy and living a happy life without any problems

Some American parents are good, but some...excuse me, should be kept away from any kids, they are just dangerous. Are they screened at all before they can adopt? Or they just pay 50K and "buy" a child? A child needs a Mother and a Father that is what he dreams of, normal loving parents! Russian government and Orthodox church now promotes adopting within Russia, help new parents financially so hopefully we will overcome this problem by ourselves.

There is a lot girl prostitutes on the streets of the USA who were adopted from Russia. They are forced on doing this by new ''parents''. Some get placed with pedophiles/drug addicts/alcoholics. In other countries this takes place too. In some counties kids sold to organs. Over 600 children adopted since 2001 cannot be found! They lost in adoptive countries non russian or adoptive country officials can find them!!!! This ban more good then bad for kids. Russian foster system can protect kids!

This ban has it's bad and good sides. We don't know about many kids since they were taken to the US. There is no information on them and they really not that protected as american children. What will american kid say if you'll try to punish him/her physically? I'll sue you/ report on you/ you are crossing my rights/etc. And russian kid will accept this as normal. Russian kids have physical and psychological problems. A lot of them get in foster care system and unlucky ones get tortured/abused.
