@jazzflutist You mean rolling the TONE HOLE can show how intonation is affected. And as for your comment about the embouchure not moving while you play... Umm... wrong.

Rolling the embouchure over and back can show how intonation is affected. Embouchure should be steady and not moved around (or rolled) as you play. Also shows how to get a stifled (covered) sound vs. a clear open sound. Angling the footjoint away from the body (horiz.) can give you a clearer sound - like aiming the air to the top right part of the blowhole, rather than straight across. E.g. "Aquarium" (Saint-Saens) should have an open sound - quarter notes C B C B | C low F (dotted half).

@chinnian11 : I agree. Very nice flutes. I've only tried an alto flute so far, but would love to test out a C concert (normal, regular) flute.

OMG, I thought it was you, were you the Principal flautist playing with sting in Oslo last night? I didn't realise that you performed using this "tone focus" technique? I thought it was just supposed to be an exercise!? anyway, just wanted to say again, great playing last night, really really enjoyed the show!! Cheers, Chris
