Thank you for posting this. I like the siderope analysis as well. Seems to me the siderope going slack is not critical at the end of the fall, since I would not want any tension pulling the bottom of the tree back into the faller's safe position.

well presented and very articulate. ts harder to keep talking like that without some fumbling.. you've got a good talent for it
HOWEVER, you mention a tree always falls true to the hinge. when side rope is not possible due to the lack of ground anchors, or interference of structures or other trees, the tapered hinge will help fight the side lean and keep the hinge from failing early in the fall, and losing the tree to the lean

Hi Ekka, around 8min in your video, the anker point of side rope must not be located on the table. It should be located "above" the sureface of the table same height to the hinge if precise demonsteration required. I ve illustrated detail in my BLOG today :-) Best regards. pabllo

Yes I have spoken about that in the post at Treeworld also. Matters also if the ground is sloping etc... think right angled triangles. In this model there will be some discrepencies due to the hinge being out the front like that but the point here is adjusting the gun to compensate for lean. In the real world what will happen is as the tree is falling slack wont come into the side rope because the tree will take up the slack by falling away from the side rope, ropes stretch too, so be aware.
