They probably have a limited RAM that stores info only long enough for it's processor to determine how to react. The Keepon doesn't seem to "learn" in any capacity, and these in the video were probably unique in that they had video output.
They aren't surveillance.

i think they are still cute looking but the facial recognition software bugs me...
where is the info being stored???
can the visual info be remotely downloaded???
can the visual software be remotely turned on to record anything???
if there is a signal... how far does it go???
is there also audio collection software in this cute little thing???
