I enjoyed your video. I had my Mastectomy and lymph nodes removed last week Friday. Pet scan next week and chemo in 3 or 4 weeks. My cancer is very invasive and praying it is not stage 4, it's stage 3 now.

Kinda of nervous of chemo. Did you shave your head before chemo or after you started loosing your hair?

How are you feeling?

I shaved my head after I started losing my hair. My hair started falling out after my second treatment - about 3 weeks from the start of chemo.

Be strong, you are wonderful. My Grandma is a breast cancer survivor and she just turned 80. If you feel young you stay young.

My girlfriend is scheduled to have a mastectomy in a little over a week due to breast cancer. We are both extremely nervous and very frightened. I hate the fact that she has to go through this procedure. Can you please share a little more about the pain associated with the surgery? Anyway, I want to thank you for posting these videos; they really make a difference.

@longlivethe80s I'm not going to lie, the pain was pretty bad - especially the first few days. My plastic surgeon said the pain wasn't so much from the mastectomy, but the reconstruction process. I had my reconstruction started right away. As soon as the breast surgeon was done, the plastic surgeon came in to do his thing (put in expanders, etc). It was a very long surgery.

Is your girlfriend having reconstruction?

@bumbleboos It depends on the person.My wife had 8 treatments over 16 weeks and didn't lose all of her hair.She was however grateful to not have to shave her legs.

Bless you dear.My wife just wet through a Radical Mastectomy yesterday to remove a large tumor in her right breast.She made the mistake of self diagnosing herself with the help of the internet.It took her losing massive amounts of weight and night sweats to realize that the lump wasn't a cyst.Please ladies,check yourselves regularly and have a doctor run the tests if you find anything.And remember,you are not alone if you are diagnosed with cancer.Your family feels the pain too.

All- if you want to cover your port scars, try Dermaflage. It fills in indented scars and totally conceals them. Works as long as your scar is indented and not too raised.

My mother is going to have a mastectomy in less than a week, (getting both of her breasts removed) she's at stage 0, will she loose her hair?
