@69Lexo69 Yes, and the funny thing is that if you buy a high grade vinyl it costs as much as fiber cement siding so why would anyone use it? Education is the key! :)

How about building hoses from bricks and mortar rather that wood and plastic? Maybe they will stand like ours for hundreds of years rather than melting during the first summer.

I got a sales call on the phone in France last week for double window installation. I was calm but explained to them slowly in French how my 1967 wooden single pane windows are fine, there are too many incompetent installers out there, the people who redid my apt interior last year ripped me off, & how I really don't like petroleum products around me. I indicated my clips & your channel was recommended! The lady was stupefied. Uprated.

@Clevelandmarko the white paint is made of titanium oxide, and it has some special characteristics. Only a test can prove the yes or no. I live in a much much hotter counrty and the we buy the cars white for this reason. Take a good car white paint, paint some descarded vinyl for cost reasons and do a test please.

@corrugatorguy I think it's just the nature of vinyl. Remember what happens when you leave an LP in the car on a hot day? They stopped making vinyl windows in dark colors because the sun tended to destroy them. It's also the reason that the siding comes in such ugly colors; light yellow reflects the sun better than brown. Even so, most jobs usually look a bit twisted and warped around the edges after a few years of normal sun exposure. It's like covering a house with a big loose plastic scab.

Natural Selection at work. If you buy vinyl siding it's an indicator. In other words it makes you look dumb.

@KillerTornado15 I don't think that it could get that hot. There was a story on Good Morning America where all the windows in a curved hotel made a "death ray" at the pool area. Let me see if I can find the clip...

Bonfires.....BBQ grills....reflected sun.....dragons breath......
Can someone do a test and polish the vinyl with some form of coating or even shiny wood polish thus will be shiny and maybe REFLECT the reflected light?. MAYBE painting the vinyl white can do the trick, but CAN VINYL be painted?Need an engineer here to do the test

@UBTUNE the melting point is 150 F, so even if you paint it white, it will still melt. Now if you put mirrors on the siding, reflect it back and melt the window peoples siding.

The fact is vinyl siding is an inferior product and should not be installed on any home. The fact that you did not address this issue shows me you are in experienced in the construction industry and your premise that someone could sue their neighbor even more supports my theory that you have no clue what you talking about. Now delete my comment as I am sure you have deleted all true professional opinions.

@ArtisanTony OK------- Tony you are probably the guy the installed 5 million homes with cultured stone without a rain screens, 5 million homes with EIFS without drainage planes, 5 million homes with Hardie Board that was not back primed, 50 million homes with brick with no weep holes, and 5 million homes with defective Louisiana Pacific Particle Board. These sidings and claddings have 100X more issues then vinyl siding.
