Matthew Hilton was the incredible power puncher machine from Monreal, Canada. Matthew terrorized the junior middleweight division beating Buster Drayton for the title (Matthew broke Drayton's nose and ribs in the process). In this title defense Hilton faces Philly's own Robert BAM BAM Hines. Hine's comes to fight, getting rocked several times and knocked down twice. Robert defines Philly tough as he gets up after each knock down to endure and pressure Hilton with short powerful punches. And the NEW Junior Middleweight Champ????
I train with Rob in Philly. He's still a Philly local. He's also still a hell of a fighter and an amazing trainer. He's a great dude, great sense of humor, and he knows his boxing. Even when the training is killing me, it's always great being around him. He's a real personable guy, real affable, loves to talk boxing, makes it all fun. Not an easy task.

@forumghost1 That's the key to being a great fighter. You have to be disciplined enough to train properly for all fights(not just the important ones)as well as win those fights when you're not at your best. That's how Mike Tyson lost most of his fights-lack of discipline. I also remember Ray Mercer vs Jesse Ferguson. Mercer had a multi million title shot scheduled. All he had to do was beat Ferguson but he didnt train properly. That's the fight where Mercer was accused of trying to bribe ferguson

Matthew had no business stepping into the ring that night. I won't go into why here. He would have beat Hynes anyday, just not this one.

Yes I enjoy MMA also. They have incredible submission skills and the
fights are usually very exciting. I will say that the average MMA fighter has relatively poor boxing skills when compared to the average boxer.
But we should not compare the two sports but instead just enjoy each for it's own entertainment value.
The top boxer and the top MMA fighter will never fight. Each sport has too much to lose.

Kinchen was actually a pretty good fighter in his time.

It's funny that you mentioned hitman hearns. that old vhs tape also had hearns vs. james "the heat" kinchen. that was a stellar fight.

Hilton was in line for a big payday with Hearns. All he head to do was win this fight. So what does he do, he decides not to train and he came in out of shape.
Why why why why?????
Supposed to be a professional fighter and a champion and he doesn't train.
I repeat, Why Why Why Why??????
