I remember this from Cartoon Network and programs they offered like 'Toon Heads,' too. I have Boomerang, so I watch Popeye on there when they televise his cartoons, because Cartoon Network's been putting too much emphasis on mediocre cartoons these days.

Oh shit, I remember this format. They would give 30 minutes to an hour dedicated to the show, and it was very professionally done. What with the little bits of info before the cartoon. I almost forgot about this. Even when I was 8 or so, I loved it. You can tell the audience being marketed to is much older and, I'll presume, wiser. What with the tone and subdued attitude of this. I like adult swim, but to me, this is a much better and professional atmosphere in presentation.

@rksexy2finger1991 Do you think Adult Swim knocked out shows like this?
-
Man I use to watch this every sunday night on Cartoon Network from 2002-2003 and of course they cancelled it so I found a DVD collection one time which it was in a tin lunch box package and I bought it when I was at work! I also got the Superman Cartoons another work from dave fleschier!

Do you have the credits to this show? The accordion music is bomb! I love it!
I believe it was usually on at 1am(et), although I do remember it also being on in prime-time between 9 and 10pm for a brief period, sharing the hour with "TOON HEADS" and/or "THE TEX AVERY SHOW".

I think i'm beginning to remember this being on primetime sundays in 2001 too. Was this also one of the shows that was removed due to adult swim?

This was a labor of love! It was on for about three years (mostly on Sundays), and it kept those black & white Popeye shorts "in the window" on CN- last I saw of this, they buried it at the tail end of their 'Adult Swim' schedule. I appreciated the fact that the original Paramount titles were restored for this {as they were in the box sets about to be released}. I know one of the people involved in the show [a contributor listed at the end], and HE was happy to see it on the air, too!
