  • @Hellcat2800 Again, man I know what you're saying. I also find that up my way the stock derbies usually have higher car counts which I like. One day I will probably build a pro mod but at this point I'm just getting into it so its not in my interest yet

  • @Canuckderby45 So what if you're 17...It's not like you're 7. You can do anything at 17 (well, mechanically anyway) that I can do at 37. Nobody in my family ever ran a derby either, I just got around some guys who were into them and learned by doing. The only thing different from your stock car and a car like mine or "pro mod" (we don't have any such designation here in Michigan) is more work, an acetylene torch and a welder. None of it is rocket science by any means.

  • @Hellcat2800 I know what you mean one day I will hopefully run a pro mod car, but for right now being 17 and this being the first car I'm building by myself and having no one in my family that derbies. Its easier for me to start simple

  • @Canuckderby45 Why not run at a derby that lets you actually build the car? Going out there in a stock car is a waste of time. My "outlaw" Crown vic is a '81 body on an '03 frame, welded front to back, Ford 9 in. rear, and like I said Chevy driveline. That sounds like alot of work but it's a car I can run over and over. The '98 is just a heat car, but still welded w/ a 305. If you're going to do it you may as well do it right.

  • @Hellcat2800 I would use another engine but my derby doesn't allow swapping engines, the derby is in a week so I'm gonna find out how well it does soon enough

  • How did it do with the 4.6? I didn't know anybody used the 4.6 in these for the derby. My .98 Crown Vic has a 305 Chevy.
