KEAN:
In Indonesia, locals are now taking laughing... seriously. The National Integration Movement says laughing improves your health in more ways than just making you feel good. Our team in Jakarta shows us how.
STORY:
The Laughing sounds from over 1,000 people at the national monument make passers-by ask "what's so funny?" Laughing as a sport was first introduced 17 years ago as an alternative approach to healthy living.
Leading from the front, two instructors guide the participants to laugh while doing all kinds of moves.
Scientific studies on laughing suggest that a good laugh is worth a lot. Laughing for one minute has the same effect on the body as playing 20 minutes of sports.
[Nino Graciano, National Integration Movement]:
"This laughing sport can eliminate stress, decrease blood pressure, massage the heart and lungs, and there are 12 miracle effects on our bodies. Besides that, laughing can make us happy and being happy can unite our differences, if you can laugh often, it's very good."
Many countries now practice this free sport, from Lebanon to Australia and throughout Europe.
