Part 2 of a short tutorial series on the quick basics of creating an island scene. The end result isn't quite as detailed as the renders I've shown, but it should get you off to a good start. This part goes into Gimp and cuts out a palm/banana tree leaf to use in our scene.

Software is Blender 3d, and photographs come from cgtextures.com

  • LOve your tutorials, and it is also nice to see you use Gimp alongside the blender sister. Both being free open software, Being in Russia , I have to delete windows, and use Linux Ubuntu, so Gimp is the only software for me.

  • In GIMP, when you hit ctrl+v, it pastes clipboard contents as a floating selection only. Click the anchor icon in the Layers dialog to paste a floating selection to the selected layer.

Also, when you save, you don't have to choose the file type from the dropdown, you can just type in the filename with the extension you want, in this case, palm_leaf.png, and it will automatically save it as a png file.

  • Awesome tutorial. Looking forward to trying out that ocean mod as well as seeing your next tutorials.

  • Thank you for this:D

  • your the best
