Mastodon - Crystal Skull Drum Cover

This is my second take of Crystal Skull, and I'm pretty happy with it. There are some mistakes, but like I said, it was my second take. The guitar solo section and the section right after it are a little rough, since I didn't really focus a lot of time on these areas. That being said, I forgot about the accented part after the solo, and kind of rushed into it, which is why the hi-hat was way off tempo. Another thing, I DID NOT play Brann's exact fills, which is pointless. If you want that, watch his Modern Drummer performance. Any hateful comments will be deleted by me, so if that's you, suck it.

when i saw them live Brann did not play it because its not actually plaid on a drum set, its played on African drum type things. However when they recorded it it was him who played it. I hope that gets to the bottom of it :D

Thanks man. And I agree about the intro, it's definitely Brann, but I can't get it to sound good without reverb so the best option was just to leave it out.

Thanks. For the intro, I would've played it but it didn't sound right without all the reverb so I opted not to play it.  And I have no idea if Brann plays it or not.

haha no probs mate :P i think ill make a cover of it too, you have inspired me haha. if you're interested Brann said he was inspired to play that intro when he watched king kong and they were playing african drums on that. He explains on this video.
