Ok, so there are a couple things I want to point out before people start jumping to assumptions...

1.) Chadwick is still a young horse in training
2.) The first part of the vid was me trying to shorten his stride to better prepare him for turning a barrel.
3.) The turns are wide, because we are working on consistancy--going into, around, and out of the turn at an equal distance from the barrel
4.) The turns are also wide because I wanted him to maintain his lope, which is easier in a bigger circle. Once he gets comfortable, I plan on shortening that distance and tightening the turn.

I'm excited about Chadwick, he had a good workout today ^_^

  • i like the way you train. ur horse is really nice looking (i love palominos =]) and he seems to be moving along nicely :]

  • thanks. =D

  • You could also train your horse to turn wide and then when you want to go tighter later it will be harder to train. That's my belief.

  • *shrug* six one way, half dozen the other.

  • Wow! You should get matching reins! That would be so cool.

  • yep i agree w/these two! u need to get him listening to u be4 he gets to excited bout running hard(i kno he wasnt going hard) but trust me soon a horse figures out they can run home thats all they will do so ur barrels will start getting wider and wider!

  • ya i agree with courtneycrackers. u need to work on ur turns b4 u run home. just that run home will not get u anything! but good job! nice horse =)

  • Nice run, the only thing is don't run him home, that is the very last part of training. get him to run inbetween barrels first :)
