Christian d'Oriola is on the right. He dominated "steam foil" fencing both as a junior and in open competition. He came 2nd in the 1st electric foil world championship in 1955.
He won the 1956 electric foil event and on winning
said he didn't like this new weapon and what it was doing
to the sport. He returned to France and continued fencing only "steam foil"
