Santana is the debut album released 1969 of the San Francisco rock group Santana.
The album was destined to be a major release, given a headstart by the band's seminal performance at the Woodstock Festival.

When the "Santana" album was first released (and an edited version of "Jingo" was issued on 45), the songwriting was wrongly attributed to classical music composer Aaron Copland (and the publishing likewise erroneously credited to Copland's publisher, Boosey & Hawkes); it was perhaps this confusion on either Columbia Records' or Santana's part that the song title was shortened from the original "Jin-Go-Lo-Ba" as written by Babatunde Olatunji.
