Doesn't tithing predate the law?

Sure it does! Gen. 14 - But Abram's (Abraham's) tithe was nothing like the tithe of the Law or the tithe demanded by churches. Jesus calls us to give everything to those in need - Paul calls us to support the workers - but ten percent for Christians came hundreds of years after they lived.

not to tithe. Apparently it's something your not willing to do and therefore you reap the benefits of not doing it. Which are?? Not tithing makes you greater and those that do less?? It is so ridiculous to have all these debates. The whole thing is foolish and this stuff is everywhere. Division in the body of Christ is sad. Just sad.

TNT - frankly - I am telling people not to be trapped by a creation of a corrupted church. The history of tithing reveals that it was NOT something that the early church did - it wasn't instituted till the 6th century. If you tithe and its voluntary, AMEN, but I don't think it is right when people are guilted into it by deceptive Bible interpretations. The body of Christ was never commanded to tithe. Its as simple as that. I mean you no offense, and I do all I can to help others.

Galatians 3:13 "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "--

Galatians 3:14 "so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith" (note: we have the blessing by faith, not works)

You do not have to be a Rocket Scientist to know that you cannot be cursed & redeemed at the same time!

NO one can find one mandate to pay tithe's after Jesus died and said paid in full as in it is finished. He did not say partially finished & partially Paid but paid in full.

Matthew 23:23 was the only time Jessus said to tithe, but since he had not yet gone to the Cross the Old Covenant law was still in effect.

The minute we understand that God's daily Grace if free for the asking is the minute we stop paying and start giving! I wish people would glory in His payment and not their own!

2nd Corinthians 9:7 "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

John 1:16 "For of his fullness we all received, and grace for grace."

John 1: 17 "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ

Galatians 2:16 " yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified"

Galatians 2:21 "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

Acts 13:39

..and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

Galatians 3:24 "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith"

Galatians 3:25 " But after faith is come we are no longer under a School master.

Colossians 2 :14 "by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

"Jesus hates cheap people"? "Tithe and you'll find the Kingdom of Heaven"? Can you find any verses to back that up?

Matthew 23:23

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

"You'll go to hell for not tithing"? Really? Can you find some verses to back up?

Luke 18:10-14

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Many people do not know what the Bible says about Tithing, that it was food, to care for those who could not provide for themselves, and that we are not to seek blessings while here on Earth.

The "tithe" in Genesis 14 actually has Abraham giving 10% of the plunder he got from others. He covered his expenses and paid his friends for helping him out from that same plunder, then gave the rest back, not keeping any of it for himself.

Yet Churches do not teach this and Christians do not accept it.

We need to spread this truth through out the world . I just left my church because they are teaching tithing and all the church workers Pastor , Youth Pastor etc are living a comfortable life . We had no programs to help the poor . We have the highest unemployment rate in the state but yet we are fixing up a new building and its not a small building . To teach the tithe the way they do they have to pervert the Word . Please tell everyone of this FALSE TEACHING . They are preying on the poor .
