This is a more or less short demo of the gameplay and world of "Construder",
a game I recently started to program which is now mostly done. This Video shows a more or less recent revision of the game world. The technology and core world mechanics were inspired by Minecraft, but Construder is a very different game in many aspects.

The game is written in Perl with some C attached. The development page can be found at http://ue.o---o.eu/

PS: The music is from modarchive.org, see, more specifically these ones: http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=33609, http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=34070 and http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=44867

  • What method did you use for collision detection?

  • @MonocleWizard A handwritten method that checks whether two spheres (legs & head) intersect with adjacent axis aligned boxes.

  • All I see is darkness

  • @sinnerman200 The video was quite old. You should watch the recent intro video I uploaded. It should have a brighter world!

  • Well, this seems to be the same genre as Minecraft, but it's not a clone of it! I like it :)

Would liketo know more about what the heck you are doing in the demo though, you pretty much just introduced some materials and hinted at crafting :P

  • @InterbredRollmops Yes, the video was just a short demo for some people. I uploaded another one today, with a bit more explanation of what is actually going on :)

  • minecraft much

  • Congrats you are at the top of "Sparks" at Google+ for the term "OpenGL"

  • @Miketswilletts See the new video I uploaded today. There I have added some text to explain some aspects :)

  • @zhicorp I updated the video description with a link to the music :)

  • @spyk3d The ambient light is a setting the player can set up to a certain value. I feared it would be too dark on some screens.

  • Hi all! Thanks for the nice comments!

This is just a short demo, if you are interested in more see the videos

on the homepage. They were too long to be uploaded here.

But I'm working on a new video to give a short intro into the game!

    So stay tuned!
