Frédéric Chopin's lavishing gorgeous Ballade No. 4, played by Marc-André Hamelin, live at concert. Very wonderful recording, my favourite.

  • merci merci merci merci merci!!!

do you have his gaspard de la nuit?

  • @rvn10rvn17 You're very welcome! :) No, I don't have a recording of it. Rumour has it that bootlegs were made and even a radio station recorded one of his concerts which included Gaspard, but I'm unaware of any broadcasts or specific recordings. Sorry.

  • qwertyuiopasdfghjkl;zxcvbnm,. Oh, I apologize. I had to remove the semen from my keyboard.

  • No one beats MAH for Godowsky and Liszt. I thought his Chopin was uninspired until I heard this. He's getting the hang of it.

  • Miraculous pianist.

  • @pianojoseph84 I highly recommend you listen to Arrau's performance. I m not sure though you can find it on youtube.

  • @ThePaulinoContreras You are not the only one!

  • Absolutely ravishing interpretation. Such unparalleled beauty sweeps us away into another world --Chopin's world. Amazing nuances. This is why I love the piano!

  • @ThePaulinoContreras Ditto for his Rach, Scriabin and Medtner - as "wanting" as his Chopin.

  • I can't stand his Chopin.

  • I also like the look on his face when he plays. A great musician.

  • @gsprpltv You should hear his recording of Chopin's Sonata No. 2. It is the best recording of the piece i've listened to yet.

Bravissimo!

  • The Volodos performance of this piece (or perhaps Richter) was my favorite, until I heard this one. Marc-Andre Hamelin is simply amazing. He shows here his great skill in maintaining context and creating intricate textures. One feels swept up in the great story being told-since, after all, the form of a ballade is focused on telling a wonderful tale or 'ballad'.
