Plimoth Plantation is a living museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts that reconstructs the original settlement of the Plymouth Colony established in the 17th century by European colonists, some of whom later became known as Pilgrims(A pilgrim (lat. peregrinus) is one who undertakes a pilgrimage, literally 'far afield'. This is traditionally a visit to a place of some religious or historic significance; often a considerable distance is traveled. Examples include a Christian or Jew visiting Jerusalem or a Muslim visiting Mecca.), being among the first to emigrate to America to avoid religious persecution and to seek religious separation from the Church of England. It currently is a not-for-profit museum supported by admissions, contributions, grants and volunteers.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The modern thanksgiving holiday in the United States traces itself to the thanksgiving had at Plymouth Colony in 1621. This thanksgiving was an impromptu religious observation after a successful harvest.
