The numerical method and parallel code used to perform this simulation were developed at the University of Texas at Austin. High performance computing resources were provided by the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The video was produced by the Data Analysis and Assessment Center, the unclassified visualization center of the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program. This research was sponsored by the Office of Naval Research and NASA Johnson Space Center.

  • This simulation is amazing! I wonder why they didn't include a plastic model for the bullit. I think quite some energy will be lost due to plastic deformation in the bullit.

  • This is so interesting. I wonder why nobody else cares to watch stuff like this... so amazing to see all the fibers working in conjunction.
