  • The bmw (m12 i think) formula 1 engine of the 80's was 1.3 litre and produced 1,500hp... more than 1000hp per litre.

  • The tag porsche and the bmw M12/14.....with a fraction of the fuel burn rate of the rotary at the same HP levels.

Don't get me wrong, I loved running J port, monster port, and peripheral port rotaries all through the 80s.

  • really? which formula 1 engine produced 1000hp per liter?

  • I have seen engines that generate 1000bhp per litre. They were run in Formula 1 automobiles. Your statement therefore is false.

  • His opinion on the diesel engine is wrong as the Pond Racer only had 24 inch diameter engine nacelles. I would have used a rotary, if RARA rules allow. Rotarys can generate up to 1000 HP per liter of displacement. No recip. engine can come close.
