SEATTLE -- The Seattle Police Department is investigating an officer's use of force during the arrest of a teenage suspect last month.

The department said a plain-clothed officer kicked a 17-year-old suspect during a drug bust in downtown Seattle on Oct. 18.

Investigators have not said what transpired during the arrest, but they said Deputy Chiefs Clark Kimerer and Nick Metz reviewed footage of the incident and decided to place the involved officer on administrative leave. The officer, who has not been identified, is said to be a 10-year veteran of the force.

Surveillance footage of the incident obtained by KOMO News shows the suspect apparently complying to the officer's orders, even holding his hands up in a gesture of surrender at one point. Despite his apparent compliance, however, the officer is seen kicking the suspect.

The kicked suspect was one of five arrested after an undercover officer was lured into a parking lot and attacked. All five were booked into jail for investigation of robbery and assault.

The incident sent two officers to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The mayor has been notified, and the Office of Professional Accountability has launched an investigation.
