Even then you could see the media's class prejudice against Prescott. He's a good man, much under-rated and over-ridiculed by the working class for 'abandoning' his roots, and the upper classes for daring to enter their profession. I know people think he sold out in New Labour - but face it, if you refuse to compromise in politics you get sacked and replaced by someone who will. The best any politician can do is change policy just enough to make a difference, while not getting sacked for it.

Prescott when he sounded like he had some modicum of principle, this of course was lost when he came to power with New Labour and their treachery.

Remember when Labour had some good qualities like opposing nuclear power and weapons. That was in the 80s. Since they gained power they turned into the Tories. And John turned into a monster.
