Barcelona F1 test, 10 March 2009 (MTV3)

Translation:

All the Formula One teams are participating in the testing at Barcelona this week. The first race of the season is two weeks away, and at the moment things are looking promising for Kimi Räikkönen.

Kimi did 55 laps around the Barcelona circuit today, and was the fastest driver by a clear margin. Based on the results from winter testing, Ferrari appears to be the favorite for the championship again.

KR: "Of course with a new car and a new setup there's always a learning curve, and problems even at first, but everything feels OK. It'll be interesting to see where we are compared to the other teams at Melbourne, but I think we have a good package."

Predicting which teams will be the strongest seems to be difficult for everyone at the moment.

KR: "I think we have to see the results from the first few races until we see what the reality is with all the teams."

Due to the new regulations, there have been big changes to the cars compared to last year. Despite that, Kimi feels the cars are still real Formula One cars.

KR: "I feel like the cars are a bit nicer now, they're more like they used to be a while back. You can drive them in a different way. Of course there's less grip and you're sometimes sliding around a bit, but that's part of the deal I think."

In 2007 Räikkönen won the championship, last year Felipe Massa had better results of the two Ferrari drivers. Jyrki Järvilehto, what does the situation at Ferrari look like right now?

- It looks very interesting, in all respects. Kimi seems very motivated for this season and you can tell that just by looking at him. His demeanor is different, he's been training hard instead of partying. He's really looking forward to the start of the season.

Räikkönen seems to be pleased with the new regulations, do you think they can be a benefit for him?

- I think so. Kimi was often complaining last year that the car wasn't quite as he wanted it to be, and they couldn't find the right setup. I'm sure these changes have had an effect on that. You can use a different driving style now, driving more aggressively, and there's the return of slick tyres and everything. So I think this year's car will suit Kimi better.

The testing results have been quite close between the teams. Who do you think will be the toughest opponent for Ferrari and Räikkönen?

- Well, one would expect McLaren to be strong, but so far they've had problems in testing. BMW has looked quite good, and I'm sure there will be some surprise teams up there as well, especially at the start of the season. I don't think anyone can be absolutely sure yet about how fast the teams are and how much of a factor reliability will be.
