Everyone knows Tommy, but not everyone south of the border is aware that he was involved in the BRL comp for about a decade.
When he'd finally had enough of the bloody Sydney comp, he decided to trek to Corbett Park to captain-coach Brothers in 1983. In 1984 he quit playing to concentrate on coaching the Brethren before moving to the Ipswich Jets for several years, grooming a little blonde fella by the name of Allan Langer along the way. He took the Jets to their first grand final appearance in 1988 and continued his coaching career at the mighty Norths Devils in 1990. In his first year at Bishop Park, he took the Devils to the Grand Final and they were a 'bees' away from downing hot favourites Valleys in a fiery contest - it was the closest Tommy ever went to winning a grand final in his entire footy career.
Tommy went on to do some BRL commentary alongside Warren Boland in the early 90's and something tells me that he also a brief stint coaching Logan City before embarking on a Sydney coaching stint with Wests for a few years.
Anyway, we shall not forget Tommy's Brisbane exploits... ox heart and all.
P.S He even played in the bloody Winfield State League ffs!!
Hey mate chasing some BRL vids will pay, I have sent you an inbox.
